We don’t know yet. The vehicle was the grandest of grand prizes in a $100 per ticket raffle with the victor getting announced at last night’s Taste of Duncanville.
But the suspense will continue for at least a few more days. The Duncanville Chamber’s Business Interchange pooled their funds to purchase tickets and it’s up to that group to pick a winner now.
Business Interchange spokesman Glenn Carter said they’re going to have a drawing with members getting cards in the drawing equivalent to their investment. Stay tuned for updates.
One award that did get presented was Best Food Vendor, going to Sheridan’s Frozen Custard. There was no award for most pounds gained or smoothest way to cut in line, I found out all too late. Chamber President Lynn McGinley said the Taste would return to Duncanville High School next year. Those of you that attended know just how successful this year’s event was. Those that didn’t, I just don’t know you anymore.
Attendees included council members Paul Ford, Ken Weaver, Dorothy Burton, Scott Cannon and Deborah Hodge. Mayoral candidate Rose Renfroe was there too. I don’t recall seeing Mayor David Green, but I did see Duncanville’s resident superhero Recycle Man. Hey, have you ever noticed you never see those two in the same place at the same time? You don’t think they could be…. Nah, that’s just crazy.
Mother Nature was in attendance manning (or womaning) the Keep Duncanville Beautiful booth along with Claudia Zakutney. There was also a large Subway sandwich that I’m pretty sure was following me around. I had a dream about a giant Subway sandwich once. Don’t judge me.
