One thing’s for certain. Even when out of the NFL, Tatum Bell knows how to make headlines. Bell has gone on record saying his United Football League team, the undefeated Florida Tuskers, could beat the NFL’s winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
When given a potential score of 24-14, the DeSoto High alum said the Tuskers would score more than 24 and hold Tampa Bay to less than 14.
“I think that’s how confident we are as a team,” Bell said. “We feel like we can go out there and play with some of the best of them. There’s a lot of savvy vets that have a lot to prove to everyone. I think that’s what also makes the talent in the league so high, everyone is trying to prove something.”
It’s a shame this game would never, ever happen. I’d love to see them play it and donate the money (not that there would be a lot of it made) to charity. Bell, a lot of his teammates and Tuskers coach Jim Haslett were all in the league a year or two ago. If anything, the Tuskers’ talent level is probably close to that of a bad NFL team and the Bucs certainly fit that description.
What do you think, readers? Could Bell and his Tusker brethren beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns or some other NFL team?
